Born in Israel Dr. Mandy (Menahem) Lender, served in the Israeli military after high school.  During his service as a para-medic he was exposed to enemy fire several times and participated in landmark archeological digs in the Judean Desert.  He attended the Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel and earned his M.D. degree in 1970.   In October 1973 he was called for military service during the Yom Kippur War and this time was injured in combat.

In 1976 Dr. Lender began training at the Veterans Affairs hospital, Hines Illinois as a fellow in Endocrinology and Diabetes.   He earned an M.B.A degree at the Dominican University in River Forest, IL in 1990.

Dr. Lender was in the service of U.S veterans for 27 years, as a physician and executive.   During those years he engaged also in medical research and held faculty appointments at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, Maywood IL, as associate professor of medicine, and the Chicago Medical School, North Chicago IL.   Dr. Lender is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology; and is a diplomat of the American Board of Nutrition.  He is an elected fellow of the American College of Physicians; a life-member of the New York Academy of Sciences; a member of the American Endocrine Society; American Diabetes Association and the AMA.

Dr. Lender experienced firsthand how it feels to be a patient.  In 2003, he was diagnosed with cancer and was successfully treated at the surgical oncology department of University of Illinois Hospital.  His wife, Pirhia was diagnosed a year later with metastatic colon cancer and passed away in 2005.  His sister Minna was diagnosed in 2004 with breast cancer and was successfully treated at the Italian Hospital in Nazareth, Israel, and Princeton Hospital, Princeton, NJ.

From 2005 on Dr. Lender is involved in writing, travel, and works as volunteer physician providing health care at the Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic (sponsored by McLaren/Bay Regional hospital), Bay City Michigan.  He is a public speaker and a member of Toastmaster International.

His interests lay with the neuro-psychology of the ”Law of Attraction”; biblical and Zen studies.
